Beautiful Creatures
So in the last month I have read The Great Gatsby and The Perks of Being a Wallflower so I can be ready to see the movies. Gatsby isn’t out yet but Wallflowers is, and I need to make some time to watch it in theaters. In the mean time, I googled other books to read and Beautiful Creatures kept popping up on all the lists I found. I’ve read the first few chapters and I’m hooked!! I just now watched the trailer for the movie which is to be released in February 2013.. Very interesting film this shall be!

It's always good to read! Good job! I haven't read Gatsby since high school, but I think I liked it.
You could read Victor Hugo's Les Miserables in anticipation for the upcoming movie (which looks awesome), but I wouldn't recommend it. It's a great story, but Hugo's telling of it is very long, often rambling, and fairly challenging to get through.
I recently re-read The Hobbit because I cannot wait until December to see the movie. I didn't care much for the book the first time through but enjoyed it more this time around. Now I'm working through the Lord of the Rings series; somehow I never read any of them. I think Tolkien's creation of a vast, varied world with rich history, background, and even languages is very impressive, but I don't care much for his storytelling/writing. Sure, Peter Jackson had to thin out some of the material for his movies, but I think he tells the tale much better. (Disclaimer: I'm at the end of The Fellowship of the Ring. I suppose my opinion could change after reading the next 2 books.)
