Holy cow! I did so much in 2013!! One of my favorite things about blogging is the chance to look back through old posts and re-live those experiences. There’s no way I could pick just one to be my favorite.. So here’s a list of some of the things that made my 2013 awesome!
Travel
I never thought I would go to Disney World.. and now I’ve been there twice! Thanks to some flight vouchers, my Dad and I were able to visit
Disney World again this past spring and see the newly built FantasyLand đŸ™‚
Other amazing trips I went on:
-Austin (I went to Ikkicon this past weekend!)
Conventions
Last year I got a taste of what convention and cosplay life was like. And this year I really ran with it! My favorite convention of the year was the
Dallas Comic Con and
A-Kon. They are the biggest local cons, and had a lot of good artists and media guests. The best part is seeing all my friends in their new costumes!
A few of the other conventions I liked:
Cosplay
Cosplay has been a new hobby of mine that I just can’t seem to shake. I’m totally addicted! It makes comic and anime conventions so much more fun. My favorite part of cosplaying is creating the outfit. In just a year, I feel like I’ve grown as an artist. And I definitely owe it to all my cosplaying friends. I feel so inspired by them and really love how encouraging the community is. My favorite costumes from this year were Arwen from The Lord of The Rings and Fiona from Shrek. It was hard to pick, but I remember feeling super happy and excited to put these outfits on.
I wore 10 new costumes this year! Here’s the list:
-Asajj Ventress
-Arwen
-Fiona from Shrek
-Evil Mary Marvel
-Sailor Venus
-Annie from League of Legends
-Black Widow
-Legolas
-Luna Lovegood
-Fionna from Adventure Time
Favorite Books
I’m trying to remember if I read anything besides
The Mortal Instruments series, but I don’t think I did. I’m a little sad I didn’t read more.. but at least there were 5 books in this series. I loved them all, and I can’t wait until the next one comes out in 2014.
The TMI series consists of:
-City of Bones
-City of Ashes
-City of Glass
-City of Fallen Angels
-City of Lost Souls
Favorite Movies
I don’t get to make it out to the theater for new releases too often, but this year I managed to see a couple! My favorite was definitely Thor: The Dark World. I wrote a
review about it, and now I’m considering making a Thor cosplay! The movie was a good mix of action, humor and romance.
Other movies I saw that I loved:
-Wreck It Ralph
-The Avengers
-Warm Bodies
-The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones
-Frozen
Note: I know for a fact I am going to LOVE The Hobbit: Desolation of Smaug, but just haven’t had a chance to go see it yet!
Favorite TV Shows
The Vampire Diaries is still on top of my list of favorite shows. It’s really the only one that I watch live. I will not make plans on Thursday nights because that’s TVD night! I was lucky enough to attend a
Vampire Diaries convention this year, too.
Other shows I am hooked on:
-Game of Thrones
-The Big Bang Theory
-Glee
-Sleepy Hollow
Favorite Songs
Growing up I listened to music constantly. All kinds, too! And that definitely hasn’t changed. This year my top played songs were very eclectic. Paramore’s “Still Into You” takes the crown! I love this song and video so much!
My other favorite songs of the year:
-One Direction – Story of My Life
-Demi Lovato – Lightweight
-Lindsey Stirling – Song of the Caged Bird (I saw her live!)
-The Killers – Here With Me (I saw them live this year, too!)
-Katy Perry – Roar
Favorite Games
Animal Crossing: New Leaf wins this category so easily. I never thought I could be
addicted to a game other than EQII. I love hanging out with my villagers, buying new outfits, and participating in the holiday events. It’s just the cutest game ever!
Of course I’m still addicted to:
-EverQuest II
-League of Legends
-Pokemon X
Favorite Blogs
Now that my blog has been around for over a year, I have had the pleasure of getting to know other bloggers! Cazz over at
Nerd Burger has become a great friend, and I love seeing her posts about new comics, geek fashion, and watching her videos. She even cosplayed for the first time as Carrie Kelly and looked fantastic!! I also became closer to
Mia Moore, who lives just down the road in Austin, Tx. We got to meet up a couple times for conventions this year. I love talking cosplay, anime and movies with her!
Other blogs I can’t live without:
Goals for 2014
-Go to San Diego Comic Con. This is like the con of all cons! It’s really hard to get tickets, so I’m hoping my application for a press badge is accepted!
-Get better at making props for my cosplays. I use a lot of cardboard and foam. And I’d really like to challenge myself by using new materials.
-Be more active (who DOESN’T put this on their to-do list?) But seriously, I sit at the computer a lot.. like a whole lot. I’d like to do more activities outside.
-I never made it to the Dallas Aquarium or Arboretum which was on my list for 2013. So I definitely HAVE to do that.
-See more movies. This sounds like a silly goal, but I’d like to go to the theater for new releases more often.
-Reply to blog comments. I’m putting this because I am really bad about replying. I absolutely read every single comment on my blog, Facebook, Instagram, etc … But I tend to check them on my phone and tell myself I’ll reply to it when I get to my computer. I appreciate everyone taking the time to look at my posts, and I would love to interact and become a better friend! I can be super shy, and a big goal of mine for 2014 is to become more social. On AND off the internet.
So let’s all raise a glass (Coke Zero in mine) and celebrate the end of a great year and the beginning of an even better one!
:+:+:+:+:
What was your favorite memory of 2013?
What is your biggest goal for 2014?
Weird. You might want to check the settings. I clicked to leave a comment in the Rafflecopter thing… it popped up a question about Harry Potter and there was a button saying "I left a comment!" There were no multiple choice buttons (despite the question being about the 4 houses) and nowhere to free text. In the end, it didn't leave a comment in your blog.
At any rate, I can't believe it's been a year already! That's incredible! Time flies! Congratulations!
I don't know what house I'd be in. Anything but Slytherin!

Looking forward to this contest! Hopefully I win!
ReplyDelete
I would be in Gryffindor for sure and I would need a wand for that so I hope I win! :3
(also, yes, I was confused by the comment thing as well so I commented here.)
ReplyDelete
I would probably choose Gryffindor the sword is pretty sweet and they kick butt at Quittage, but I would probably date a chick from Ravenclaw because they have the smart hot girls.
ReplyDelete
Hufflepuff. At least that's where the Sorting Hat put me on Pottermore and The Sorting Hat is never wrong.
ReplyDelete
Would be in gryffindor for sure! These wands look amazing. Your craftsmanship is great!
ReplyDelete
Gryffindor! These wands are amazing! You are amazing! I love your craftmanship
ReplyDelete
Pottermore says Slytherin and I think I would agree.
ReplyDelete
I think I always saw myself in Gryffindor, 'cause Gryffindor. But you got me thinking about it tonight, and I really wasn't sure. The more I thought about it, the more I figured I'd be a Hufflepuff. But nobody wants to be Hufflepuff, 'cause Hufflepuff. (Not that there's REALLY anything wrong with Hufflepuff… they're just… Hufflepuff.)
So I turned to the internet. http://www.thealmightyguru.com/Reviews/HarryPotter/Docs/Quiz-House.html seemed pretty reasonable. And it sorted me into…. Hufflepuff.
Then I saw Jessica B… a proud (maybe?) member of Hufflepuff. I never went to Pottermore before, but I created an account and sorted through the first several chapters (got a toad for my pet!) so I could get the Sorting Hat to sort me. And the Sorting Hat says….. Hufflepuff.
So, I guess it's official. I'M A HUFFLEPUFF!

First let me start by asking … Didn't The Sorting Hat have trouble deciding which house Harry should be in?? When you really think of it, the three main characters do have some questionable motives. As usual Ser Frog has once again enlightened me. Thank you for introducing me to thealmightyguru website. Different slant on many issues.
Uhhhummm, I'm rambling. As I meekly muttered out loud that there was no way I really should be automatically considered for acceptance into Slytherin, those around me burst out laughing and rolled their eyes. Most people who come into contact with me find that I'm rather pleasant and fun and caring. Those who really know my personality find me to be competitive, vengeful, impatient, cunning and rather ruthless. Put me on Survivor and I'll fight to the bitter end with a smile on my face.
Not wanting to admit my rightful place was in Slytherin, I took the test of which Ser Frog first spoke. With a 14 point gap, Slytherin was at the top and Hufflepuff was at the bottom.
For some strange genetic reason, and for which I am grateful, my dear ones have been given the gift of compassion and kindness. I'll deal with them later!
So, thank you GGG for making another wonderful blog post and offering a contest to win a handcrafted wand. Good luck to the winners and may you find yourself in your appropriate House!
Peace.

Slytherin has a bad reputation because some unsavory characters have come from that house. But they're not all bad! Some of them are actually quite good. So don't feel ashamed. đŸ™‚ Be proud!

I'd probably be in Slytherin. I'm a nice Slytherin, though. đŸ™‚
ReplyDelete
Ravenclaw đŸ˜€
ReplyDelete
I just want to say.. WOW! you're so talented!
ReplyDelete
I'm not big on the colors, but I'm a Gryffindor fan. I would probably end up in that house.
ReplyDelete
My daughter is definitely Ravenclaw, but I've always been a Slytherin
ReplyDelete
I will always be a Ravenclaw, to the bone. Great work on your wands! They're beautiful. I'd definitely use one for cosplay ;)! Congrats on the 200+ and year anniversay!
ReplyDelete
I would probably be Gryffindor. Just found your blog recently and going through the older posts has been fun. Congrats on the 200+ Likes!
ReplyDelete
Gryffindor, according to the sorting hat
ReplyDelete
Being from England I would like to think I would be put into Gryffindor, but each time I have attended an event it has been Slytherin every time. I think I have a dark side I don't know about đŸ™‚
ReplyDelete
It would be Gryffindor.
ReplyDelete
the sorting hat put me in gryffindor! though i was really equal parts everything but slytherin.
ReplyDelete
I must have a gryffindor wand for my kiddos
ReplyDelete
Going to have to say Slytherin. They're not all bad! I think.
ReplyDelete
Ravenclaw so Luna Lovegood and I could hang out 24/7 and be best friends forever.
ReplyDelete
Oh so cute!! I would be in Ravenclaw I think đŸ™‚
ReplyDelete
Gryffindor
ReplyDelete
Ravenclaw, all the way. But I can't be a proper wizard without the right wand.
ReplyDelete
Ravenclaw for the win đŸ™‚
ReplyDelete
Out of the four houses at Hogwarts, the one I would most likely be in is Gryffindor! Because red is my favorite color and Gryffindor's are so cool.
ReplyDelete
Gryffindor house is where it's at đŸ˜€
ReplyDelete
I have taken several tests to see this. I personally would choose Gryffindor, but on Pottermore I was sorted into Slytherin. There was another test I did that said Ravenclaw.
So I just don't don't logically know. HAHA.
ReplyDelete
If I could choose, Id pick Slytherin because of how strong and put-together the house is. But I'm really more of a hufflepuff at heart. Slytherin in attitude but hufflepuff deep down.

Hoping to win an awesome wand for my sister in laws birthday!!
So glad we met at the Vampire Diaries signing! Ian Somerhalder!! đŸ™‚
ReplyDelete
Oh and Gryffindor!
ReplyDelete
Most definitely Slytherin.
