Wizard Wand Giveaway!

I am excited to announce that I am giving away FOUR HANDMADE WIZARD WANDS! My Facebook page hit 200+ Likes, and this coming Monday will be the 1 YEAR anniversary of my blog!! I am so grateful for all the support that everyone has shown me, and I am thrilled to celebrate this milestone!

If I could give everyone a wizard wand, I promise I would! But that would require lots of magic. I do, however, have four wands for four lucky wizards.

These unique wands are completely handmade by me!

You have until May 27th at 12:00 AM EST to enter. At this time, it is only open to US residents. I will notify 4 winners on Monday (May 27th) by email. Winners will have 48 hours to reply and provide a mailing address. If I do not hear from a winner in the time allotted then a new winner will be chosen. Also, the wand chooses the wizard – meaning winners will receive one of the four wands shown above at random.
Good luck!

  1. Weird. You might want to check the settings. I clicked to leave a comment in the Rafflecopter thing… it popped up a question about Harry Potter and there was a button saying "I left a comment!" There were no multiple choice buttons (despite the question being about the 4 houses) and nowhere to free text. In the end, it didn't leave a comment in your blog.

At any rate, I can't believe it's been a year already! That's incredible! Time flies! Congratulations!

I don't know what house I'd be in. Anything but Slytherin!

  2. Looking forward to this contest! Hopefully I win!

    ReplyDelete

  3. I would be in Gryffindor for sure and I would need a wand for that so I hope I win! :3

(also, yes, I was confused by the comment thing as well so I commented here.)

    ReplyDelete

  4. I would probably choose Gryffindor the sword is pretty sweet and they kick butt at Quittage, but I would probably date a chick from Ravenclaw because they have the smart hot girls.

    ReplyDelete

  5. Hufflepuff. At least that's where the Sorting Hat put me on Pottermore and The Sorting Hat is never wrong.

    ReplyDelete

  6. Would be in gryffindor for sure! These wands look amazing. Your craftsmanship is great!

    ReplyDelete

  7. Gryffindor! These wands are amazing! You are amazing! I love your craftmanship

    ReplyDelete

  8. Pottermore says Slytherin and I think I would agree.

    ReplyDelete

  9. I think I always saw myself in Gryffindor, 'cause Gryffindor. But you got me thinking about it tonight, and I really wasn't sure. The more I thought about it, the more I figured I'd be a Hufflepuff. But nobody wants to be Hufflepuff, 'cause Hufflepuff. (Not that there's REALLY anything wrong with Hufflepuff… they're just… Hufflepuff.)

So I turned to the internet. http://www.thealmightyguru.com/Reviews/HarryPotter/Docs/Quiz-House.html seemed pretty reasonable. And it sorted me into…. Hufflepuff.

Then I saw Jessica B… a proud (maybe?) member of Hufflepuff. I never went to Pottermore before, but I created an account and sorted through the first several chapters (got a toad for my pet!) so I could get the Sorting Hat to sort me. And the Sorting Hat says….. Hufflepuff.

    So, I guess it's official. I'M A HUFFLEPUFF!

    1. First let me start by asking … Didn't The Sorting Hat have trouble deciding which house Harry should be in?? When you really think of it, the three main characters do have some questionable motives. As usual Ser Frog has once again enlightened me. Thank you for introducing me to thealmightyguru website. Different slant on many issues.

Uhhhummm, I'm rambling. As I meekly muttered out loud that there was no way I really should be automatically considered for acceptance into Slytherin, those around me burst out laughing and rolled their eyes. Most people who come into contact with me find that I'm rather pleasant and fun and caring. Those who really know my personality find me to be competitive, vengeful, impatient, cunning and rather ruthless. Put me on Survivor and I'll fight to the bitter end with a smile on my face.

Not wanting to admit my rightful place was in Slytherin, I took the test of which Ser Frog first spoke. With a 14 point gap, Slytherin was at the top and Hufflepuff was at the bottom.

For some strange genetic reason, and for which I am grateful, my dear ones have been given the gift of compassion and kindness. I'll deal with them later!

So, thank you GGG for making another wonderful blog post and offering a contest to win a handcrafted wand. Good luck to the winners and may you find yourself in your appropriate House!
      Peace.

    2. Slytherin has a bad reputation because some unsavory characters have come from that house. But they're not all bad! Some of them are actually quite good. So don't feel ashamed. đŸ™‚ Be proud!

  10. I'd probably be in Slytherin. I'm a nice Slytherin, though. đŸ™‚

    ReplyDelete

  11. I just want to say.. WOW! you're so talented!

    ReplyDelete

  12. I'm not big on the colors, but I'm a Gryffindor fan. I would probably end up in that house.

    ReplyDelete

  13. My daughter is definitely Ravenclaw, but I've always been a Slytherin

    ReplyDelete

  14. I will always be a Ravenclaw, to the bone. Great work on your wands! They're beautiful. I'd definitely use one for cosplay ;)! Congrats on the 200+ and year anniversay!

    ReplyDelete

  15. I would probably be Gryffindor. Just found your blog recently and going through the older posts has been fun. Congrats on the 200+ Likes!

    ReplyDelete

  16. Gryffindor, according to the sorting hat

    ReplyDelete

  17. Being from England I would like to think I would be put into Gryffindor, but each time I have attended an event it has been Slytherin every time. I think I have a dark side I don't know about đŸ™‚

    ReplyDelete

  18. the sorting hat put me in gryffindor! though i was really equal parts everything but slytherin.

    ReplyDelete

  19. I must have a gryffindor wand for my kiddos

    ReplyDelete

  20. Going to have to say Slytherin. They're not all bad! I think.

    ReplyDelete

  21. Ravenclaw so Luna Lovegood and I could hang out 24/7 and be best friends forever.

    ReplyDelete

  22. Oh so cute!! I would be in Ravenclaw I think đŸ™‚

    ReplyDelete

  23. Ravenclaw, all the way. But I can't be a proper wizard without the right wand.

    ReplyDelete

  24. Ravenclaw for the win đŸ™‚

    ReplyDelete

  25. Out of the four houses at Hogwarts, the one I would most likely be in is Gryffindor! Because red is my favorite color and Gryffindor's are so cool.

    ReplyDelete

  26. Gryffindor house is where it's at đŸ˜€

    ReplyDelete

  27. I have taken several tests to see this. I personally would choose Gryffindor, but on Pottermore I was sorted into Slytherin. There was another test I did that said Ravenclaw.

So I just don't don't logically know. HAHA.

    ReplyDelete

    Replies

    1. If I could choose, Id pick Slytherin because of how strong and put-together the house is. But I'm really more of a hufflepuff at heart. Slytherin in attitude but hufflepuff deep down.

  28. Hoping to win an awesome wand for my sister in laws birthday!!
So glad we met at the Vampire Diaries signing! Ian Somerhalder!! đŸ™‚

  29. Oh and Gryffindor!

    ReplyDelete

  30. Most definitely Slytherin.

  31. Congratulations to all the winners!

Ikkicon 2012

Literally just got back from my road trip to Austin, TX for Ikkicon and was so excited about it that I just had to blog right away! It was very unplanned and spur of the moment so I didn’t have time to make a new cosplay. This was my first time to Ikkicon and although the size of the venue (like the dealer’s room and the panels) was smaller the amount of people was tremendous! As soon as I walked into the lobby I was blown away by how many people were dressed up in cosplay. Everyone had a wig on or ears or SOMETHING! It was so cool to see! I was most excited to meet up with several friends like Eric (we’ve been friends since high school!) and his girlfriend Marianne, Mia Moore who is my new BBFF (best blogger friend forever), Jonathan (who I met at AnimeFest), and Payton (also from AnimeFest and Fan Days) … So check out the pics and enjoy the anime overload!

Mia as Ramona Flowers & me as Rainbow Dash
My favorite part was the gaming room.

Jonathan as Doctor Whooves

Steampunk Mr. Freeze and Poison Ivy
1st Place winners of the cosplay contest
From the movie 9
I think he won Best in Show in the cosplay contest.

Marianne as Seras Victoria from Hellsing

Payton as Dark Zelda.. And that was a great Link but I don’t know his name

What’s better than one Rainbow Dash? Two!

Jack Skellington and Zero
Sunday I decided to dress up as a Sailor Moon fan đŸ˜‰
This was the swag I picked up.. Luna and Artemis plushes, some cute bows, and a free sticker from Cosplay in America – really cool site and super nice guy!

And this was my view from my hotel room! Austin is pretty cool!

Holiday Wish List

I know it’s kinda late to be posting a holiday wishlist with the world ending tomorrow and Christmas on Tuesday, but I figured it’s better late than never đŸ™‚
Kit Kat Clock from Fred Flare, $54

Mini Starfish Pin from Sparkle Cove, $19
Unicorn Pendant Necklace from Betsey Johnson (sold out now.. doh!)
Legend of Zelda Shield Replica from ThinkGeek, $69.99
Carly Tufted Headboard from Target, $349.99
SmartCat Ultimate Cat Scratching Post from Petsmart, $69.99 (for Pixie of course)
Well those are my more expensive and totally unneeded items on my wish list.
But a girl can dream right!
What are some things on your wish list?

Intergalactic Planetary

Do you ever wake up with a song in your head? Singing or humming a tune that’s super random? I always wonder if it’s some sign that it MUST be the first song I listen to or something bad will happen. I mean why else would “Intergalactic” by the Beastie Boys be on my mind? So I googled the lyrics and put it first on my playlist.  Interesting and cute song đŸ˜›

“If you try to knock me you’ll get mocked
I’ll stir fry you in my wok
Your knees’ll start shaking and your fingers pop
Like a pinch on the neck of Mr. Spock”

So anyone doing something fun before the end of the world tomorrow?
I am booked all evening at the salon so my clients can go out in style! đŸ˜€

Pink Shelves & Hobby Lobby Brackets

As you saw in my previous post about my new salon, I have some bright pink shelves up on the wall!
Here’s a quick little tutorial on how I made them. đŸ™‚
This was a fun and sorta easy project if you have time to make shelves from scratch! I have seen this project on Pinterest and also saw my friend make some. I say “sorta easy” because it was a little hard to screw the brackets into the wall and make sure everything was level. But other than that it was a breeze!
I got these brackets at Hobby Lobby for only $6.99.
Sometimes you can catch them 50%, too!
I also got some screws from Lowe’s. I got two different sizes.. Smaller ones for going into the board and longer ones to go into the wall.
We later had to use an anchor in the wall to make sure they were secure.
I used a poplar board from Lowe’s.. You can get different lengths.
And sand it first before you paint it.

I bought paint from Hobby Lobby appropriately named “Party Pink” for $5.99.
Use a satin varnish for a beautiful shine.

A finished board! Be sure to do both sides since you will see the underneath.
I was so nervous Pixie was going to jump on the boards. Then we’d have little pink paw prints everywhere. Wait.. that would have been kinda cute! đŸ˜€

After trying it both ways, it was easier to screw the brackets into the board first and then the wall.

Tada! What do you think? I sure love my new shelves! I am thinking about making a long one to go over my bed since I can’t find a good headboard. Have you ever made something totally from scratch?

Hair by Anna Lee

As some of you may know – I do hair! I was rooming with some friends for awhile but a month or so ago I got my own salon room! It’s a huge accomplishment, and I am so proud to have my own business. Decorating the room was a lot of fun, and I have another post about how I made the pink shelves with the brackets on the wall. I am so thankful my clients have followed me to my new salon. So if you need your hair done and you live around the Dallas area come see me!

Review: Denny’s The Hobbit Menu!

In honor of The Hobbit being released this week and with inspiration from GeekyGlamorous's post, I decided to give the special Hobbit menu at Denny's a try!

I was pretty excited about this and was quoting LoTR to my dad on the way. He had no idea what I was talking about, but he was eager to eat some food regardless. đŸ™‚

When we sat down they brought us some samples of the Radagast's Red Velvet Pancake Puppies. And holy cow they were good! We told the waitress we were here just for the Hobbit menu and she laughed and gave us some time to take pics đŸ˜›

I eventually decided on the Shire Sausage Skillet with scrambled eggs. My dad ordered the Slam so we could try the Pumpkin Patch Pancakes, Seed Cake French Toast, and Shire Sausage. We were feeling breakfast to say the least!

The food was pretty good.. my sausage wasn't the best but the eggs and veggies were delicious. Dad's french toast was awesome and we just HAD to order some of the Red Velvet Pancake Puppies to take home with us. The coolest part were the free trading cards they give out if you order a Hobbit meal. Our waitress gave us 3 packs!

My 27th Birthday

So last month I turned another year older… I have finally reached that part in my life where I might start lying about my age đŸ˜‰  .. Oh well!! I still act like a kid so I figured I’d celebrate like one.. My family and I ate at Gatti Town and had pizza! It’s definitely my favorite food ever. Afterwards, we played some games where I won a cute little dinosaur figure. Later, we opened some presents, and I got some Juicy Couture perfume, MLP collection toys, a Betsy Johnson and Kate Spade necklace and the coolest leopard hat! Then for dessert I had a strawberry cupcake. It was such a great birthday!! Thanks to my family for being so awesome đŸ™‚

Makeup, Fashion, and Art Tutorials

When I am not blogging I am still usually at the computer .. Here’s a few tutorials I’ve found lately that I find cool on the net!
Really cool tutorial by Kandee Johnson for a Betty Boop costume. How cute is this?!
These two girls at Bubble My Licorice have loads of cute posts. They’ve done some hair and DIY fashion tutorials, too.
I enjoyed watching this video of Miss Leilani Joy draw Ramona Flowers. She gives some great tips on drawing faces. She is such a good artist!
The Dainty Squid shared a neat plant pressing tutorial.. I am a sucker for stopping in my tracks to pick up a pretty or unique leaf. Would be great to save them!
Have you watched or read any good tutorials lately? I made some cute shelves using Hobby Lobby brackets recently that I need to share someday!

Pixie Kitty Photo Spam

I have done a few cool things lately.. Like my birthday, Black Friday shopping, redecorate my salon (again!), see Breaking Dawn 2’s premiere, eat at Denny’s for The Hobbit meals, and paint some craft projects.. But since I don’t have those posts typed up YET…. Here are some cute pics of Pixie!! đŸ™‚
She loves to help during raids on EQ2.. I bet she’s thinking “Kill the add, cancel the detriment, joust!”
(my guildies will understand, hehe)

Just chillin’ đŸ˜‰

“Sacks make me hyper!”

Pixie and her BFF Rainbow Dash

Big yawn!

These might be my most favorite pics of Pixie! She looks like a prairie dog! She was giving herself a bath and heard something. Haha!
I call this Pixie’s “pink puff” .. She loves to sit by me when I am at the computer, and I found this cute pink cat bed at Petsmart.
Looking so pretty on my bed đŸ™‚

Check out those eyes!! Pascal from Tangled had been hanging out on the back of the couch watching us.

Then Pascal photobombed us!! Promise I didn’t even plan this đŸ˜›

Shredder Cosplay Tutorial

TONIGHT I DINE ON TURTLE SOUP!

So last October I decided I wanted to make a Shredder cosplay to wear to the Dallas Sci Fi Expo in February! I chose this character because I am a big Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle fan. Since I wasn't sure how to make a turtle costume, I decided Shredder would be awesome! Also, I enjoyed making armor for my Fiona cosplay and wanted to try it again.
This is a fairly simple costume. Overall, it was super cheap for me since I used sheet foam for nearly everything. If you wanted it sturdier you could use Worbla. I've also seen it made out of cardboard and duct tape.
In this tutorial, I explain how I made the armor, helmet, tunic and cape.

WARNING – PICTURE HEAVY!!!

Pinterest Favs #2

Pinterest and I have become very close pals over the last year. I pin quite frequently and find it so useful for organizing cosplay ideas, recipes to try, cool fashion finds, and cute artwork. There’s a Pinterest Favs post here that I did awhile back. So here’s #2 in this series!
How cute is this Myth Congeniality Skirt from Mod Cloth? There’s a matching top you can get, too!
I am in love with these My Little Pony leggings from We Love fine. These come in bigger sizes, too, which I think is great.
I googled the tag on this photo since Pinterest didn’t take me to a source and @Pants is Josh Mecouch who is a cartoonist for Mad magazine! He has other cool art on his website.
Beauty blog Phyrra had tons of other fantastic polishes posted, but I loved the colors in this one!
Pinterest is a great place to find Animal Crossing QR codes. I found this one by Raspberry-Jam-Heaven of Elsa from Frozen. There’s also a code for Anna’s dress on her deviantArt!
To continue with the Frozen theme, I totally said “awww” when I saw this picture of Olaf. The source is Instagram user @disney_life_for_me. I started following them right away!
:+:+:+:+:
If you have a Pinterest please share your board in the comments so I can check them out and follow them! đŸ™‚
You can view my Pinterest boards here. Be sure to check my “Likes” because I go on liking sprees sometimes, too.

Loot Crate Unboxing: January 2014

This was my first Loot Crate experience! Each month you get a box of goodies with a different theme of geek swag. The price is just under $20 a month. The January theme was “Launch” so everything in the box was kinda space related.

After seeing other people’s unboxing videos and pictures online, I noticed I didn’t get the Minecraft calendar. Pretty much everyone else did so I’m not sure why mine was missing.. especially since I didn’t get something different in it’s place. So I’m a little bummed about that.
To subscribe to Loot Crate please use this link – http://mbsy.co/lootcrate/1592413 -because they have a refer-a-friend program and it helps me out. They also post some discount codes on their Twitter. I saved 10% with the code EPIC.
I signed up for 3 months of Loot Crate. Even though I love the Funko Pop toy and the NASA patch, I hope the next box has more stuff in it I will use.
Also, HUGE congratulations to Hailee D. as the winner of my Scott Pilgrim Giveaway! Thank you to everyone that entered! This contest had the most entries ever.. so you guys totally rock! I already have an awesome prize lined up for my next giveaway so if you didn’t win this time be sure to check back soon. đŸ™‚

Review: Fresh Brewed Tee

I recently teamed up with Fresh Brewed Tee and have an exciting review to share! If you haven’t heard of them they are a family owned company that offers geeky/pop culture t-shirts. They stand out from other t-shirt companies because they make each design in a variety of sizes for any body shape!

I’ve had trouble in the past with other companies because their sizes were ill-fitting. The girl shirts were way too small, the boys were too big .. It was very frustrating! So I am super pleased to tell you that the quality of shirt that Fresh Brewed Tee offers is great! When I first received my shirt, I noticed right away how thick the material was. The design was also printed incredibly well, centered correctly, and won’t be fading anytime soon. I can’t tell you how happy I am that a woman’s size fit me, too. I am pretty tall (5’9″) and have a long torso. I usually stay away from ordering girl sizes because they are almost always too short for me. And the larges will be way too baggy! This shirt I am wearing in the photos is a woman’s large and fits me perfectly. It wasn’t too baggy at all, was long enough to look great with jeans, and the softness of the shirt was super comfortable.
Plushies not included – But aren’t they cute! đŸ˜›
They have unique limited edition t-shirts that will cover any geek’s favorite fandom, and a design contest is available for artists to enter! http://www.freshbrewedtee.com
If you’re interested in purchasing a shirt from Fresh Brewed Tee then be sure to use this coupon code
 FBTGLITZYGEEKGIRL1
to save $1 when you order! It can be used more than once, too! Which is great since they regularly add new designs!

Ikkicon VIII 2013

Ikkicon is an anime and pop culture convention in Austin, Tx. It's always after Christmas and sometimes lands on New Years Eve. In 2012, I attended for the first time (you can read about it here.) It was a last minute decision, and I didn't really know many people. This year I was invited to room with my friend Mia Moore! I was looking forward to seeing her and the chance to meet new friends. The only thing stopping me from going was the drive to Austin. Last time I drove by myself and had a horrible time trying to park at the convention. I was hoping I could find a ride since so many cosplayers from Dallas usually go to Ikkicon. So I asked on my Facebook and was surprised how many nice people offered me a spot in their car! I rode down with Joseph of Chiaroscuro Cosplay. He and I have met a couple times at local Dallas cons. It was a lot of fun talking about cosplay and prop making on the drive to Austin with him!
When I got to Ikkicon, I had to wait in a long long long line to get a badge. I didn't pre-register, so my line had more people in it. I bet I waited close to 3 hours.

After I got my badge, I met Mia and her friends in our hotel room. It was thrilling to be around a group of friends, and I even looked forward to sleeping on the floor! Rooming with people at a convention was something I had never experienced before. It's something you have to try at least once! We all got along great, helped each other put on our costumes, and walked around the con together. On Friday, Mia was dressed as Luna Lovegood and I put on my Annie costume from League of Legends.

Book Review: Divergent

Divergent by Veronica Roth
After realizing I only finished one book series last year (The Mortal Instruments), I took immediate action and decided to start reading right away. I always try to complete a book before I see the movie, and since Divergent comes out in March I knew it was a good one to start with. Overall, if you’re a fan of The Hunger Games then I am sure you will like this book. The Hunger Games was a little bit more engaging and drew me in faster, but I still couldn’t put Divergent down. I tried my best to keep this whole review SPOILER FREE! Nothing written here can’t been seen in the movie trailer.
Divergent Faction Button Set by The Geek Studio on Etsy
Divergent is the first book in a series of three by Veronica Roth. In a nutshell, it’s the story of a 16 year old girl that lives in a unique government setting. There are five different factions that each person lives in. When you turn 16 you have to decide if you want to stay with your family in the faction you were born into or change to a different one and leave your family. For Tris (the main character) her simulation test that is supposed to tell her which faction she’d fit in well with doesn’t give her normal results.
Fan art by pebbled via deviantART
The book starts off a little slow. You don’t get too personal with Tris right away. She basically just describes her normal routine in her faction Abnegation. This faction values selflessness and results in a boring life for Tris. You do get a taste of her questioning her lifestyle. So you wonder what choice she is going to make about her faction.
Fan art by nikaworks via deviantART
Eventually, more action starts to happen. Most of the book is about the faction choice she made. It made me wonder if that was going to be the highest part. Well I was wrong! A major wrench gets thrown into the plans, and just when you think things are going well for Tris she learns new secrets about the government. After I got to this part I really HAD to know what was going to happen.
Fan art by nickelbackloverxoxox via deviantART
Alongside the action, a love story also blooms. I enjoyed how it was portrayed because it left you wanting more. Tris has grown up around little affection, and I liked seeing her character develop into a woman that is curious about her feelings. The guy she likes (his name is Four) is depicted as strong, brave, and sometimes menacing. However, we get to see his weaknesses. His vulnerablitiy
makes him seem real, and you end up liking him even more because of that.
Photo from Entertainment Weekly
The ending picks up pace very quickly, and you’re left on the edge of your seat. I’ve watched the movie trailer a couple times now, and I’m excited to see what scenes they keep. It’s got enough grit to it that I am sure guys will enjoy it and enough spirit that I know girls will, too. I actually know a few guys that read the book and said they liked it. So this story should have something for everyone.
:+:+:+:+:
I already bought Insurgent and Allegiant, which are the next books in the series. I will probably not write a review on them since I don’t want to spoil the first movie for anyone. I wouldn’t be surprised if I read the last book by the end of the week!
Watch the trailer for Divergent here and order the book here.
Have you read Divergent?
Will you go see the movie?

2013 In Review

Holy cow! I did so much in 2013!! One of my favorite things about blogging is the chance to look back through old posts and re-live those experiences. There’s no way I could pick just one to be my favorite.. So here’s a list of some of the things that made my 2013 awesome!
Travel
I never thought I would go to Disney World.. and now I’ve been there twice! Thanks to some flight vouchers, my Dad and I were able to visit Disney World again this past spring and see the newly built FantasyLand đŸ™‚
Other amazing trips I went on:
-Austin (I went to Ikkicon this past weekend!)
Conventions
Last year I got a taste of what convention and cosplay life was like. And this year I really ran with it! My favorite convention of the year was the Dallas Comic Con and A-Kon. They are the biggest local cons, and had a lot of good artists and media guests. The best part is seeing all my friends in their new costumes!
A few of the other conventions I liked:

Cosplay
Cosplay has been a new hobby of mine that I just can’t seem to shake. I’m totally addicted! It makes comic and anime conventions so much more fun. My favorite part of cosplaying is creating the outfit. In just a year, I feel like I’ve grown as an artist. And I definitely owe it to all my cosplaying friends. I feel so inspired by them and really love how encouraging the community is. My favorite costumes from this year were Arwen from The Lord of The Rings and Fiona from Shrek. It was hard to pick, but I remember feeling super happy and excited to put these outfits on.
I wore 10 new costumes this year! Here’s the list:
-Asajj Ventress
-Arwen
-Fiona from Shrek
-Evil Mary Marvel
-Sailor Venus
-Annie from League of Legends
-Black Widow
-Legolas
-Luna Lovegood
-Fionna from Adventure Time

Favorite Books
I’m trying to remember if I read anything besides The Mortal Instruments series, but I don’t think I did. I’m a little sad I didn’t read more.. but at least there were 5 books in this series. I loved them all, and I can’t wait until the next one comes out in 2014.
The TMI series consists of:
-City of Bones
-City of Ashes
-City of Glass
-City of Fallen Angels
-City of Lost Souls

Theatrical Release Poster: Walt Disney Studios
Favorite Movies
I don’t get to make it out to the theater for new releases too often, but this year I managed to see a couple! My favorite was definitely Thor: The Dark World. I wrote a review about it, and now I’m considering making a Thor cosplay! The movie was a good mix of action, humor and romance.
Other movies I saw that I loved:
-Wreck It Ralph
-The Avengers
-Warm Bodies
-The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones
-Frozen
Note: I know for a fact I am going to LOVE The Hobbit: Desolation of Smaug, but just haven’t had a chance to go see it yet!

 Favorite TV Shows
The Vampire Diaries is still on top of my list of favorite shows. It’s really the only one that I watch live. I will not make plans on Thursday nights because that’s TVD night! I was lucky enough to attend a Vampire Diaries convention this year, too.
Other shows I am hooked on:
-Game of Thrones
-The Big Bang Theory
-Glee
-Sleepy Hollow

Favorite Songs
Growing up I listened to music constantly. All kinds, too! And that definitely hasn’t changed. This year my top played songs were very eclectic. Paramore’s “Still Into You” takes the crown! I love this song and video so much!
My other favorite songs of the year:
-One Direction – Story of My Life
-Demi Lovato – Lightweight
-Lindsey Stirling – Song of the Caged Bird (I saw her live!)
-The Killers – Here With Me (I saw them live this year, too!)
-Katy Perry – Roar
Favorite Games
Animal Crossing: New Leaf wins this category so easily. I never thought I could be addicted to a game other than EQII. I love hanging out with my villagers, buying new outfits, and participating in the holiday events. It’s just the cutest game ever!
Of course I’m still addicted to:
-EverQuest II
-League of Legends
-Pokemon X

Favorite Blogs
Now that my blog has been around for over a year, I have had the pleasure of getting to know other bloggers! Cazz over at Nerd Burger has become a great friend, and I love seeing her posts about new comics, geek fashion, and watching her videos. She even cosplayed for the first time as Carrie Kelly and looked fantastic!! I also became closer to Mia Moore, who lives just down the road in Austin, Tx. We got to meet up a couple times for conventions this year. I love talking cosplay, anime and movies with her!
Other blogs I can’t live without:

Goals for 2014

-Go to San Diego Comic Con. This is like the con of all cons! It’s really hard to get tickets, so I’m hoping my application for a press badge is accepted!
-Get better at making props for my cosplays. I use a lot of cardboard and foam. And I’d really like to challenge myself by using new materials.
-Be more active (who DOESN’T put this on their to-do list?) But seriously, I sit at the computer a lot.. like a whole lot. I’d like to do more activities outside.
-I never made it to the Dallas Aquarium or Arboretum which was on my list for 2013. So I definitely HAVE to do that.
-See more movies. This sounds like a silly goal, but I’d like to go to the theater for new releases more often.
-Reply to blog comments. I’m putting this because I am really bad about replying. I absolutely read every single comment on my blog, Facebook, Instagram, etc … But I tend to check them on my phone and tell myself I’ll reply to it when I get to my computer. I appreciate everyone taking the time to look at my posts, and I would love to interact and become a better friend! I can be super shy, and a big goal of mine for 2014 is to become more social. On AND off the internet.
So let’s all raise a glass (Coke Zero in mine) and celebrate the end of a great year and the beginning of an even better one!

Join Me on Twitch

My favorite game right now is Guild Wars 2, and just a few weeks ago I finally invested in a nice webcam so I could begin streaming my adventures in Tyria on Twitch! It’s been an incredible way to become more involved with the GW2 community, and I love that I’ve been able to meet new friends this way! I recently mentioned I would be taking a bit of a break from my cosplaying and blogging. So figuring out Twitch has given me a new past time that I’m really enjoying! You can still expect some cosplays and plenty of future blog posts, but if you want to check out my Twitch stream and chat with me live definitely follow my channel! You don’t have to play games to watch.. you could just come by and say Hey or ask me anything! đŸ˜€ And if you ARE a Guild Wars 2 player then you can expect some in-game items and gold giveaways! I already gave out a precursor last week!!! I’m even planning something pretty big for when I hit 1k followers.
Anyway, I just wanted to update you guys on what I’ve been doing lately! My Instagram/Twitter/Facebook have all stayed pretty up-to-date on my other shenanigans so give them a follow as well.. my name is @OMGlitzy on everything :p
http://girlhero.net
And if you are curious about learning how to Twitch and stream your own games then head over to my friend GirlHeroLori’s blog. She has some Twitch 101 posts with lots of great tips on setting things up, what programs and plugins to use, etc. She streams as well! And if you have a Twitch already leave your name in the comments so I can give you a follow back!

30 Day Disney Challenge: Day 4, 5, 6

I’m doing a 30 Day Disney Challenge and here are my answers for days 4, 5 and 6! If you missed 1, 2 and 3 you can read them here. Please leave a comment with your answers if you want to play along đŸ™‚
Day 4 – Your favorite prince
My favorite prince is Aladdin! I enjoyed his songs the most and playing the Aladdin game on Sega! I think he has a fun personality and brings out a side of Jasmine she’s been searching for. He was also incredibly awesome to meet at Disney World! He took extra time to show me different poses for the camera and chat with me!
Day 5 – Your favorite hero
Flynn Rider (or Eugene Fitzherbert) is my favorite hero because he truly “sees the light” after meeting Rapunzel. I could write SO much about him. Throughout the whole movie he grows as a character, honestly opens up and chooses to protect Rapunzel with his life. He fights for his girl!
Day 6 – Your favorite animal
Pascal takes the crown as my favorite Disney animal! I think it’s great that his colors and emotions tell so much about him! He’s so cute and happy!

  1. I love this!
    4). Prince Eric
5). Prince Philip…even thought he slays my favorite villain, his fight was epic!

  2. 4) Favorite Prince? Prince Eric of course!
    5) Favorite Hero? Hercules takes the cake, he's so dreamy đŸ˜€ I like how he goes from so average to so incredible. Then finds out he was incredible the whole time!
    6) Favorite Animal? Nana the dog from Peter Pan. She is so caring and shows the love dogs and people have for eachother!

AnimeFest 2012: Part 1

Alrighty folks this is going to be a big post! AnimeFest was pretty fun! I only went on Saturday (9-1-12) but the turn out was great! Comparing it to AKon I would say it was just a tad bit smaller.. but overall had the same great vibe đŸ™‚

Kevin drove up from Austin the night before and brought some Ramune and Mochi for me to try! It was different, but really tasty. After giving him a haircut (lol) we went to sleep early since we needed to wake up at 7 am to get ready. That gave us enough time to drive to downtown Dallas. Good thing we did because part of the highway was closed off! When we got there the lines weren’t too bad for registration. Later in the day when my other friends Jordan and Jared arrived, the lines were crazy long! We attended a “brony improv” panel that was … well.. interesting.. lol .. And Jordan and Jared saw a Pokemon panel. We all went to the MLP photoshoot which happen to be at the same time as a the Zelda/Link photoshoot. Kevin was a ‘modern Link’ this convention but after seeing the other’s who went all out I think we might do Zelda and Link next!

And be sure to check out AnimeFest Part 2!

I like to call this “if Rainbow Dash got a manicure” lol

Kevin brought strawberry Ramune (rah moo nay)

And strawberry Mochi (moh kee) .. Yum!

Daily Outfit

Here’s a pic of what I wore yesterday to work. We have to wear black, white, or grey. I’ll usually try to spice it up with some jewelry or shoes – those can be any color. And of course my hair adds some pop! đŸ˜€

  1. Having to wear black would be my idea of a perfect job. Love your boots.

OMGLITZY: DIY: Rapunzel Bulletin Board

DIY: Rapunzel Bulletin Board

I have been using a plain brown bulletin board for many years, and it finally occurred to me that I should paint it! I decided to give it a Rapunzel inspired look. This only took me about an hour to do and was so easy and fun!
Supplies needed:
Bulletin board
Paint of your choice
Paint brush
Newspaper
Notecards
Glue
Glitter
Jewels

First, I laid out some newspaper so I wouldn’t make a mess. Then, I used notecards to stick around the frame so I wouldn’t get paint on the cork board. Next, I painted the frame with metallic purple and sprinkled fine glitter one it while it was still wet.
(Tip: Put a phone book under your bulletin board so it won’t stick to your newspaper after you paint it)

I picked out jewels to match Rapunzel’s colors which are purple, pink, yellow and gold (orange)

Then, I would put a dot of glue on the frame and stick my jewels to it.

You can put how ever many jewels as you want. You could also use little stickers if you don’t want to mess with glue!
After I let my frame dry over night, I hung up my bulletin board and pinned some of my favorite things to it!

Have you ever taken something from boring to fabulous?
Let me know what you’ve remodeled!

  4. So many jewels. That would cost so much to make here in Australia. Just the jewels would be $20. You are so lucky. It looks so lovely.

Glitzy’s Gamer Spotlight #8

What is your name?
Vætr Droppin Bombz!

When did you start playing Guild Wars 2?

Or how long have you been playing?
I’ve been playing since beta!

What made you want to try the game?

A friend of mine was talking about it; sounded interesting and unique, plus I had never played an MMO, so I figured why not give it a shot!

What’s your favorite profession to play and why?

Dagger/Dagger Elementalist! I spent a lot of time training and playing Ele in general, and to me D/D Ele is extremely fun!

When you log into the game what is the first thing you like to do?

Go to my home instance or guild hall and collect my daily nodes.

Have you bought Heart of Thorns? If so, what is your impression of the new maps and events?
If you have not bought it explain why and if you plan to.
I totally “Shut up and take my money!” Lol. I like the new maps; the sense of urgency, to complete objectives, and overall involvement with the content is good. The maps are expansive and detailed, and are just really fun to explore.

What goals have you set for yourself in game?

I want to craft a second Eternity, and also craft Flameseeker Prophecies.

If you are in a guild you’d like to promote please tell us about it!
If you are not in one, what are you looking for in a guild?
I am in the best guild evah, Ethereal Guardians [EG]. They’re PvE centric, but do a lot of PvP and WvW as well. Well rounded guild, fully upgraded buffs, and the best Guild Hall! Check them out, put in an application! http://etherealguardians.com/recruitment

Any updates or fixes you wish ANet would work on?

More consistent updates for WvW that involve ANet actually paying attention to what the WvW community is asking for. Separate balance patches for WvW, PvE, and PvP. Better/more consistent rewards for the more difficult content. More non-raid dungeons!!!! =D

If you could visit IRL one of the cities of Tyria which one would you pick and why?
Metrica Province! It is wrapped in mystery and rich with lore. It feels like there’s a lot there worth exploring and investigating beyond what the naked eye can see.
