Glitzy Geeky Confessions

Gamerwife invited bloggers to take the “Geeky Confessions” challenge so I decided to share mine with you! Be sure to head over to her page to visit the links from other bloggers that have opened up with their darkest geeky secrets :p

1. I’ve cosplayed a character I didn’t know
I had never seen The Clone Wars before cosplaying as Asajj Ventress. The story is that I really wanted to do a Star Wars cosplay but wasn’t sure who. I love the Star Wars movies and know who most of the females are in the films. I almost did Queen Amidala, but while googling more characters I came across Asajj Ventress and loved her character design. Having never seen the show, I decided to research her backstory and ended up really enjoying it. So although I had never been a fan of The Clone Wars – cosplaying Ventress turned me into one!
2. I’m not a Whovian
I’ve only seen maybe ..two entire episodes. I don’t dislike it, though. In fact, I attended Who Fest 2013 with my mom and really had fun. I think the story ideas and fandom are very creative, but as far as watching the actual show .. I’ll pass.
3. I love reading spoilers
I purposefully seek out spoilers for games, movies, and books. I frequently visit TheMovieSpoiler.com and read all the current movies as if they are short stories. And for certain TV shows I find it enjoyable to know what’s going to happen next. It’s like I have more anticipation and excitement!
4. I have a Twilight tattoo
This *should* be my most embarrassing confession. But if you know me then you know I don’t really give a frack what people think of my love for certain fandoms! So yep – I have a pretty big Twilight tattoo on my arm. I even entered a “Are you the biggest fan” contest to try and win a trip to be in the second movie. (I can’t believe I didn’t win.) I did make sure the tattoo was done so well that it doesn’t scream cheesy vampire romance. Most people don’t even realize it’s a Twilight reference. I still love it to this day.

    Awesome confessions! The other day I was in the toy store, looking at Lego Star Wars stuff, and for a moment there (it was a Saturday), I was annoyed at all of the people and kids blocking my way. Then I realised I was in a toy store, meant for children… lol They have a right to be there too!!! ^___^

    I don't know if I'd say I enjoy spoilers, because if it's a story I'm into I'll murder anyone who tells me what's going to happen. However, if I'm only kind of into a story, I enjoy looking them up on Wikipedia to read the plot instead of watching the movie.

    Haha, I love reading spoilers too! For me, it's like getting to the last half mile of a race. Seeing the ending gives me the jolt I need to finish sometimes! Thanks for sharing 🙂

    I always heard murmurs about Doctor Who but never watched it until a year or two ago. What I've seen I like, but I can't get into the older episodes. It's such a prolific show I can't imagine catching up on all the episodes…especially with so many great fall shows. No spoilers for me, once I see them I can't forget!

    Spoilers and Twilight, those are my jam! Even though I speak poorly about the books, I watch the Twilight movies a few times a year 🙂 And my husband hates watching shows with me because I've usually read the spoilers online first. I can't help it, I just want to know.

Glitzy Geek Update

You may have noticed my blog posts haven’t been quite as frequent, but have no fear! I am still here! I figured since several of you might come by to check this I’d give a little update on what’s up in my glitzy geeky life. 
My blog began as a means for me to just express what was going on in my day to day life or stuff I shopped for and what not.. Then it blossomed into this exciting cosplay and craft tutorial hub! In 2014, I really went on a lot of great adventures to comic cons, concerts and other events. I feel like my blog focused on a lot of those things which is super cool because it’s so fun to go back and look at those posts.
This year, I plan to slow down a little bit on the cosplay lifestyle. I definitely would love to keep making things and dressing up, but I’d like to find a focus for my time and money somewhere new. That doesn’t mean I won’t make something or attend a comic con – because I definitely will! I love doing that! I just think I might try some new directions here and there.
The fun part is I don’t even know what that means! 😀 I actually don’t have much planned at the moment which is great because it leaves the door open for all sorts of opportunities. I have ideas in my head for blog posts that might be a tad more about some life experiences I’ve had (like being a cosplay guest, being a business owner, making friends on the internet) .. stuff like that! I just feel bad not posting a post with a ton of photos. I mean I’ve read blogger tips and most of them say don’t post a big wall of text. I don’t want my blog to completely change, but I do want to add some sort of new material to it.
So anyway that’s just some things that have been on my mind at the start of this new year. I do have a post coming soon all about PAX South in San Antonio and also a craft tutorial for my Rapunzel crown. As well as new giveaway prizes! Definitely come back soon for all those updates and more! I’m still here, I’m still geekin’ out, and I still love reading all your comments and getting to know all of you.

Glitzy Geek Mail #1

I love the internet (a lot), but snail mail is so fun to send and receive! Here is some glitzy geeky mail an owl has delivered to me recently.
My Twitter friend @LadySquibbles16 and I have a lot in common, and we both enjoy tweeting about our love of different fandoms (most recently One Direction Oreos)! So when I received a package from her with a My Little Pony bag, Diana plushie, and a glitzy necklace I was ecstatic! Diana is modeling the gorgeous necklace, and Pixie loved meeting a new friend!

I’m so happy to be pen pals with Nerd Burger. We always have fun chats in our letters! And I especially loved the Harry Potter stickers and Frodo heart pin she included. I already put her pin on my jean jacket! You can see her other designs in her Etsy store. She also sent along a really cute comic about Mario Kart, and I love that she decorates the envelopes with fun stickers, too!

    Here's a confession: I've never finished reading Scott Pilgrim! I read about halfway through at my job at a bookstore and got a new job before I ever finished it! So needless to say, I've got my fingers crossed!

    I honestly don't know if I have a favorite…I loved all of them. I feel like I did relate to Ramona a lot because I'm really stand-offish, even though I have so much compassion, I just come off really abrasive. =___= I am not a fan of Knives though, she reminded me too much of my pre-teen self when I was really relationship obsessed and gross. She was cute, but I didn't like that memory.

    People who are saying Ramona is their favorite have serious mental problems, and should probably see a psychiatrist at the bottom of a cliff. Here's a few reasons why Ramona sucks, she broke 7 people's hearts and was quickly on her way to an 8th, she flip flops more than some loose sandals in a hurricane, she has the personality of a piece of wet cardboard, and she lies and backstabs almost everyone who's not her. Why is hurting people supposed to be a point of pride? I don't understand this compulsion to do what you want and screw the consequences, at some point you need to look behind and notice that trail of bodies is starting to smell.

    That being said my favorite character is Wallace Wells, in the movie he was the only one with enough sense to try to distance himself from the destructive circus going on around him, and in the book…well I haven't read the books yet that's why I would like to win them very much! 😉

    Ahhhhh!! I'm ashamed to admit I've never read Scott Pilgrim. Though from the game and movie Ramona is definitely my favorite. If I won this, I'd definite spend an entire weekend reading through it! *crosses fingers*

For A-Kon 25 this past weekend – I dressed up as Sailor Ariel in a Disney Sailor Scout group! I made some super cute starfish accessories for my costume and now you have the chance to win one for yourself!!

Giveaway: Princess Peach and Super Mario Amiibos

Woot! If you like video games and you like toys then you are going to LOVE this giveaway!! I am going to hook up two lucky winners with a Nintendo Amiibo! A Princess Peach and Super Mario Amiibo are up for grabs in this week-long giveaway. 
If you don’t know what Amiibos are check out this handy link. These cute toys are useful for Nintendo games and also fun to collect! Rare and hard to find Amiibos are even quite high in price now.     My favourite Nintendo game? Gah, there are too many to choose from! From my childhood, I'd go with Super Metroid. But there are loads of great games coming out right now! I think I'll stick to Super Metroid as my answer, though; that game is amazing all the way through.

    Poliwhirl! In the original 151, Poliwag, Poliwhirl, and Poliwrath were the most frog-like Pokemon, and I liked Poliwhirl the most. There have been more frog-like Pokemon since (including Politoed), but the original 151 will always be my favorite.

    Both posters are cool, but I love that X/Y one the most!

Giveaway: Kick-Ass 2 Poster Autographed by John Romita Jr.

Surprise! It’s time for another giveaway! This time the prize is a Kick-Ass 2 poster autographed by the comic’s illustrator John Romita Jr.! I was able to meet him at Dallas Comic Con this year and get his autograph on two posters. Entering is easy using Rafflecopter, and the first winner picked will win the big poster and the second picked will receive the smaller sized poster (both of which are autographed)! This is to celebrate the release of the movie this week!
